Purple ColorPosted by Josh (Vancouver, Canada) on 6 August 2007 in Plant & Nature and Portfolio. Purple isn't my favorite color, but it might be for some? Imagine life without purple! Do or make something purple today! I'm still new with the whole lighting editing thing in Photoshop, so if someone more pro could give some tips? Cheers!

Heh. @ColNed Pictures: Thanks! kairospix from Singapore, Singaporevery well post-processed the blurred out background made the flower stand out! 62 years ago today purple blue spots appeared on the skin many people of Hiroshima...signs of poisoning of the blood - they were suffereing from leukemia due ot the radiation of the A-bomb... one famous girl by the name of Sadako Sasaki had these purplish spots ten years after the A-bomb was dropped... she eventually died of it but not before she folded a thousand paper cranes in a wish to get well again... and so today in some parts of Asia when you wish someone will get well sometimes people fold them a thousand paper cranes... 6 Aug 2007 8:18am @kairospix: Thanks kairos! Vicki from Yamba, AustraliaHi Josh, You have a lovely shot with great depth of field. A good base image to start working on. As you have asked for PS tips, here's my suggestions..... I would adjust the levels a bit to the left to give the shot a tiny bit more saturation, give the image a small bump in the 'S' curves to make the colour 'pop', but not so much as to make it took un natural, crop the flower in tighter and turn it into a vertical image and run a light vignette around the edge to stop the eye from straying over to the lighter coloured corners in the shot. That should bring a lot more impact to the subject of the photograph. In camera (always good to have a good base image) I would have set your 400D at 100iso (the 400D can be quite 'noisy' at 400iso, imho), and taken several different compositions. Really work the subject. This is not a critisism, however, the composition is quite boring, unless you were going for the subject right in the centre of target look and that was your intention. Take on board what information is helpful and trash the rest. Vicki 6 Aug 2007 9:10pm @Vicki: Wow thanks Vicki. Haha, those are some useful tips. I'll definitely use them in adjusting my other pictures to come! Thanks again! @Amir: Thanks! Vicki from Yamba, AustraliaHi Josh, I meant adjust the levels to the RIGHT in this image. Ooops.....
