Meet Ashton. I kinda forgot his age, but he's not 3 yrs old as he shows 3 fingers. Cute kid eh? I couldn't get the right color for this portrait style that I wanted. Anyone could give a tip? Or a link to some tutorial. You know where you get that classic portrait effect almost looking very pro? C&C's please!
Great color!Yes he is really cute!I think you should work with "white balance".Just it!

@shahab: Thanks! I'll try that next time.
I think your problem with the color may be that the light on his face as opposed to the top of his head. The light on his face is reflecting off the red in the foreground...giving it a red cast.

@Dylan: Ooh, I didn't think of that. Maybe somewhere along those lines.. thanks though! Appreciate the correction.
take the photos in raw then play with the white balance, a nice portrait i like the expression.

@pedro alexandre: Haha, a little too late for that. But thanks though. I'll try RAWs next time!

@Denise: Ooh, but this year 2008, he's 4 already right, isn't he?
aw thats cute...who is he?

@Samuelw: Oh, he's pastor Andrew Gray's son. The speaker that came for YC High School camp last year.
Cute shot. I'm not sure what you mean by the classic portrait effect otherwise I'd love to offer advice. It seems to me to have a bit of a yellow cast but I see someone above says red... maybe I need my monitor calibrated!

@Jan: Hey Jan, thanks. Haha, wow you have a Canon EOS 5D? Passed down I guess? or second hand? Pretty pricey ain't it?
i love this photo josh. i think the color captured is beautiful as it is. his blonde hair and the light on it, makes it look very.. childlike-world ..ish u get me :)

@Joanna :): Thanks Jo! Haha..
All of the above tips will work, Josh. Another that works... try a b/w conversion. Great candid!! It's an excellent expression you've captured and that's half the battle. LOL ;-)

@amy: Thanks. Yeah I should try that! Half the battle, I guess so..
Cute little boy! Have no advice for this shot, not an expert yet :) What I did learn at digital-photography-school online, is that you never look down on a flower or a child when taking the photo, always come down to their level. Another tip was to get close in as possible, the less background in a portrait the better, unless you want to focus on something special. :)

@Ina: Ooh, thanks Ina for the tip! I'll do that next time, keeping that in mind! Thanks.

@Ahmad: Sure, thanks for visiting mine!
Great portrait, I like the colour as is!

@Margie: It could be brighter though, but thank you!
You use the same camera as I do. I'd recommend a lower ISO, even if it meant asking Ashton to pose. Keep in mind that I'm merely an amateur photographer (until someone pays me not to shoot for free), and don't know my left elbow from my right woble (hint: backwards).

@Sash: Thanks for the advice though. We're always learn something after each shot!
The face of innocence! A well done capture of a candid moment. B-) Cheers - {H}
p.s. sorry it took me a while to return your visit. B-)

Mmm... try the different settings the camera white balance, and try shooting in RAW so you can edit the color afterwards... but the candis is really GOOD!
